Problem:
To get mail rules to work, complete both of the following steps, in order:
1. Set the Configuration Document option
In the Configuration Document for the server (MIME -> Advanced -> Advanced
Inbound Message Options), make sure the following option is set to Yes, "If
each recipient's address does not appear in any address header, then add their
address to the BCC list".
By default, when a user is blind-copied (bcc) on a message, the name does not
appear in the "bcc" field. By enabling this option, the user will now see
his/her hierarchical name in the "bcc" field. The rule does not work if this
option is set to No because the "bcc" field remains blank.
2. Add "RouterUseRecipientForBcc=1" to the server's NOTES.INI file
By default, when a user is blind-copied on a message, even if it is to his/her
internet address, the router will parse it to the hierarchical address,
assuming Step 1 is in place. In the problem stated above, the mail rule does
not work because the rule is searching for the condition "A@lotus.com" in the
"bcc" field, when what it actually contains is "A/lotus@lotus."
Starting in R6.0.3, the Notes.INI parameter, "RouterUseRecipientForBcc," can be
used to keep the internet address in the "bcc" field from getting converted by
the router.
The parameter can be added directly to the server's Notes.INI file (will
require a server restart). You can also add the parameter from the console,
using the command, "set config RouterUseRecipientForBcc=1." This only requires
a router restart.
